The major tasks of the Directorate of Educational Programs include studying and disseminating the experience of using ICT in educational sphere; investigating the issues of developing human capital for the Knowledge Economy; developing and implementing relevant programs and projects; and educating and training e-Development specialists (both independently and in cooperation with partners).

The Directorate’s participates in implementing the following projects:

• Organizing the international Think Quest contest for schoolchildren of 12-19 years old to develop the best educational web-site 2001-2003 (management)
• Establishing the Europe and Central Asia Virtual University – 2001-2003 (management)
• Developing the proposal for the Concept of Developing Distance Learning for the CIS Countries - 2002-2003 (participation jointly with the State Institute of Information Technologies and Telecommunications "Informika")
• Creating the Training System for the Higher Education Teachers to Utilize the Distance Learning Methods as part of the Support Program for the Academic Initiatives in the Socio-Economic Sciences organized by the National Training Foundation – 2002-2003 (participation)
• Opening the Distance Learning Consulting Center as a final stage of the project on implementing the distance learning technologies into the university teacher and professor training system – 2003 (participation)
• Completing the International Russian-Uzbek project on teacher and specialist training in the field of distance learning in the leading higher education institutions and education administration authorities in Uzbekistan with the use of distance learning technologies – 2003-2004 (management)
• Preparing the project proposal for automated information system “Children’s Database” – 2006 (management)
• Creating and upgrading the information and education portal “Culture and Art” – 2006-2007 (participation)
• Developing training programs of modern ICT use for the state government officials – 2007 (management)
• Conducting the ICT use training and testing of public servants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and of its federal executive branches – 2007 (participation)
