 Andrey Mendkovich is a Doctor of Chemistry, Head of Laboratory of the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, since 1991 has been Chairman of the Scientific and Educational Computer Network FREEnet, since 1992 – Head of the Laboratory of Computer Assistance to Chemical Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
From 1995 till 2000 he was Deputy Head of Telecommunication and Information Systems Departments of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
Andrey Mendkovich is an active participant of international organizations:
In 1991-1994 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the European Academic & Research Network. In 1994-1995 he is a Country Representative in TERENA (Trans-European Research & Education Networking Association), in 1995-1996 – Deputy Representative. Since 1994 he has been a Country Representative in CEENet (Central & Eastern European Networking Association).
In 1989-2000 Dr. Mendkovich headed workshops of a number of big Russian and international telecommunication projects supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, IREX, ISF, OSI, EC, NATO etc.
He is author of more than 100 scientific works, 2 monographs and 3 certificates of authorship.
