IIS Held a Seminar Meeting on e-Government in the Republic of Mordovia
As part of the existing agreement with the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, on July 7, 2005 the Institute of the Information Society held in Mordovian capital, Saransk, a seminar meeting for the representatives of the ministries and governmental authorities of the Mordovian Republic, federal offices in the region, as well as the municipal administration of the City of Saransk. During this meeting the IIS representatives demonstrated for the audience their approaches to establishing the e-government platform for the Republic of Mordovia (this work is carried out according to the agreements with the Mordovian Government).

Over forty representatives of the Republic’s state authorities and municipal government attended the seminar meeting. The meeting was convened by the Deputy Head of the Mordovian Government V.A. Nechaev.

The audience showed much interest in the following presentations made by the Institute’s representatives:

In addition, V.E. Red’kin from the Center of Fiscal Policy made a presentation at the seminar meeting entitled Approaches to the Optimal Organization of the Inter-budgetary Relations (PDF, 432 Kb, Russian.)

The meeting participants asked the presenters specific questions, and upon completion of the seminar meeting representatives of several key authorities requested additional information.

On the next day the organizer of this event - Republican Center of Government Informatization in the Republic of Mordovia - provided the IIS representatives with an opportunity to hold a series of working meetings with the heads and specialists of the Republic’s key authorities. The purpose of these meetings was specifying the needs of the ministries and other official authorities concerning the use of ICT as well as determining the priorities for implementing the e-government platform. The representatives of various offices took part in these working meetings, including the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Finances, Ministry of Agriculture and Provision, Ministry of the Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Population’s Social Security, Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, Mordovian State Property Management Committee, and the Republic’s office of the Ministry of Civil Defense and Extreme Situations.

The reports are prepared outlining the outcomes of this meeting; a final document summarizes the key conclusions and recommendations of the IIS.
