Congress is organized by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Plekhanov Russian Economic University, Institute of the Information Society, “Intelligent Enterprise” Journal, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation and “1 C” company.

The goal of the SMART RUSSIA 2016 International Congress is to discuss existing challenges and exchange experiences in the field of building knowledge society and the development of the knowledge economy.

The Congress has been held on the yearly basis since 2014. At previous congresses the issues of Smart Education development and general issues of the knowledge economy in Russia and worldwide were discussed. The themes of this Congress will be expanded and the following issues will be discussed:

• Education and training of the specialists for the knowledge society
• Science and effective innovation system
• Enabling environment (economic and institutional
• Appropriate information infrastructure
• Digital Government: a new trend in public administration

It is expected that the Congress will be attended by about 200 representatives of the interested public authorities and local government, business, research and education community, civil society, experts, international organizations and mass media.

The main events of the Congress will be the plenary and breakout sessions, panel discussions and round tables. Leading Russian and foreign expert will take part and speak in the plenary sessions and panel discussions.

After the SMART RUSSIA 2016 Congress as a result a special issue of the “Information Society’, which will consist of presentations and discussions, will be published.
