On April 23, 2015 the conference room of the Research Board of the Russian State University for the Humanities hosted a seminar on «Automated library systems and technologies». The seminar was attended by more than 80 representatives of libraries and academic community  from Moscow, Moscow region, Tver and the Republic of Ingushetia. The seminar was devoted to the use of library information systems, particularly the upgraded version 2.0 of automated integrated library system “MegaPro”.

AILS «MegaPro» is a universal library information system of the 4^th generation, which is fully implemented as a web-browser on .NET platform.  Work with each module of the AILS «MegaPro» is carried out through a web-browser and can be operated both within the walls of a library and distantly, from any Internet point.  

Developers of the AILS «MegaPro», employees of  «Data Express» LLC,  Vladimir Gribov, Lyudmila Levova, Sergey Efremov and Ivan Solovyev, introduced to the participants new additional modules of the system: module «Qualifying papers» and module «Archives».

On behalf of the Institute of the Information Society the work of the seminar was attended by Manager Olga Kopyeva. The potentialities and use of the AILS «MegaPro» were described in the “Information Society” journal: the 6^th issue in 2013 provides information about this system in an article by Vladimir Gribov and Lyudmila Levova “Information technologies for libraries: time for new solutions”.

The participants of the event were provided with information on the “infoDonor” program, which renders technological support to non-governmental and non-commercial organizations (NCO/NGO), and starting February 2013 also to public libraries offering them access to programs of software and hardware donations of partner-donors. The program supports such organizations in economizing their budget for ICTs and maximally efficient use of acquired ICT tools and infrastructure.   The program is coordinated in Russia by the Institute of the Information Society together with its global operator TechSoup Global.
