Global e-Government Forum
2014 was held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) on October 7-8th,
2014. United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Wu
Hongbo and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, as
well as government officials, scientists and leading international ICT experts from
more than 70 countries took part in the event.
The Forum was devoted to the “Smart management for sustainable development:
New partnership opportunities in the network society” theme.
The main goal was to exchange experience between experts and state
structures, consider world tendencies of the information society development
and the e-government impact on this process. The issues, which are of interest
both for developed countries with world recognized e-government achievements and
for those countries that are making their first steps in this direction, have
been discussed during the forum.
The following topics were discussed by the experts on panel sessions: “Tendencies
and emerging issues of smart government”, “Strategic aspects of smart
government implementation”, “Provision of multichannel access to state services”,
“E-participation”, “Bridging digital divide”, “Open data and open government”, “Evolution
of electronic services” and many others.
Within the Forum «Smart Government: Science and Technologies» Scientific Conference
have been held, the main objective of which was to determine the significance
and the role of new tendencies in the ICT industry for the construction of an
effective system of governance.
The Forum was organized by the United Nations and the Ministry of
Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, the co-organizer was the
«National Info-Communication Holding «Zerde» JSC.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of the Information
Society Dr. Yuri Hohlov participated in the “Bridging digital divide” session, “E-participation.
Way forward.” session and in the Ministerial Round Table.
As a result of the Global e-Government Forum, international experts have
developed a number of recommendations for the development of e-government.
These recommendations will soon be handed over to the UN to make a plan for the
development of UN Member-States (193 countries) “Sustainable Development Goals
after 2015” covering the period from 2015 to 2025. |
