Within the session "The TechSoup Global
Network: The View at Eight Years Old" the presentation on how the networks was
developed since launch of the international program in 2005-2006. After the
presentation regional coordinators presented results of donation programs
operation in their regions. The session was finalized by the discussion of
network development priorities.
Furthermore,
during the day Summit participants discussed issues of bringing new services
and programs to NGO sector, as well as use of the data currently available in
the network under the concept “Data Access for Public Good”.
In the morning session «Ingredients of
Power Our Services: Validation, Eligibility and Data» the problems related to
validation of NGOs as eligible ones within the donation program, eligibility
criteria and data usage. Participants noted that it is necessary to improve
validation process, as well as update questionnaire of program participant, in
which not all the items are clear and need to be reviewed. It was also outlined
that in many countries of the world social entrepreneurship is emerging and it
is worth to think on how provide possibility for small socially-oriented NGOs
to take part in the donation program.
Then, in the course of the session
“Meeting the Real Need: “How Do I Use this Staff?” Different Approaches to
Providing IT-Services” the representatives of “Technology Solutions and Services”
and “Connecting Up”, HKCSS è TechImpact companies highlighted different approaches to provision
of IT-services to NGOs and discussed with the audience use of the “last mile”
technologies by NGOs. Summit participants
discussed the issues on how to raise awareness of NGOs on the new innovative
technologies and how to help nonprofits for technology adoption and its
efficient use in their activities.
In the afternoon, the representative
of TechSoup Global from Australia, Anne Gawen, CEO, “Connecting Up” conducted a
seminar for Summit participants, where she presented the best practices and
results of marketing practices development implemented under the project
financed by Network Innovation Fund.
Then two workshops were arranged on the
themes: "Finding Funding for Work Not Covered by the Social Enterprise" and "Envisioning Better Processes Around Validation And Eligibility". In the course
of the first workshop, the example-based discussion about how donors are
investing in program development across the TechSoup Global Network took
place. Participants exchanged their
experience on finding funds for projects on provision of additional services to
nonprofits, taking part in the donation program (IT-services, Office 365).
During the second workshop the issue of use community design methodology to
generate possibilities around the NGO validation and eligibility processes was
discussed.
Afterwards, in the course of the session
devoted to establishment of Multi-Stakeholder Platform (MSP) it was discussed "why, what, when and how" change entire underlying technological platform,
including financing. This session was
conducted by Anthony Lee, Board Chair of TechSoup Global and Chris Worman,
Director, Program Development.
The day was finalized by Summit Gala
Dinner, arranged by the TechSoup Global, during which partners from different countries
could meet in informal atmosphere and continue to discuss issues they are
interested in.
In the third and last day of Summit
the interactive discussions and workshops on strategic development directions,
new applications that can be introduced for NGO sector within the MSP, as well
as how to find ways of implementation of new ideas, proposed by TechSoup Global
community, implemented. The ideas and initiatives suggested by the partners
will be generalized and used when developing strategy of TechSoup Global
Network for the following period. |
