On November 1, 2013 the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications Mr. Nikolay Nikiforov handed out the prestigious industry award - medal "Master of Communications" - to Tatiana Ershova, Director General of the Institute of the Information Society.

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation dated 27.12.2004 № 46 the title of "Master of Communications" is conferred to "highly professional functionaries of the information technology and communications sphere for good work in improvement of the infocommunication complex of the country, implementation of federal and regional programs of communications and informatization development, who have been working in the sphere for 15 years and longer".

The title was first introduced by decree of the Council of People's Commissars of USSR and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party dated 14 September 1937. First conferments took place in 1938.
