IIS Chairman presented Russia's case at the UNDESA high level joint expert group meeting “E-Participation: Empowering People through ICTs”

Ilaria Bottigliero, Charles Senkondo, Enrique Cusba, Yuri Hohlov, Jacqueline RutjensThe second day (25 July 2013) of the UNDESA high level joint expert group meeting “E-Participation: Empowering People through ICTs” included session "Empowerment and E-Participation: Policy Recommendations".

The session was facilitated by Mr. Charles Y. Senkondo, Executive Director of Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre.

Ms. Jacqueline Rutjens, Deputy Director of the Citizenship Department of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands, analyzed problems in the implementation of e-government and e-participation in her country.

Mr. Enrique Cusba, E-Government Director from the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology of Columbia, presented several national e-participation projects.

Ms. Ilaria Bottigliero, Acting Director of the Research and Policy International Development Law Organization (IDLO), highlighted the legal aspects of e-participation.

Mr. Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of the Information Society, made presentation "e-Participation in Russia: Developmental Difficulties and Recent Achievements" prepared in co-authorship with Dr. Tatiana Ershova, IIS General Director, and Mr. Sergei Shaposhnik, Head of IIS Directorate of the Information Society Monitoring and Senior Researcher of the Institute for History of Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
