The
meeting was organized by the Division for Public Administration and Development
Management (DPADM) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social
Affairs (UN DESA). Facilitation Meeting of Action Lines C1, C7 and C11 is
being held within the framework of the Forum for the eighth time. It is open
for all stakeholders from public and private sectors, civil society,
international organizations and experts’ community.
The
main goal of the meeting is to organize a platform for information and experience
exchange between participants, determination of priority spheres within the framework
of operative directions, creation of synergism between participants for increasing
efficiency of knowledge exchange and establishing cooperation for fulfilling WSIS
decisions at international, regional and national levels.
In
the course of the meeting issues related to e-government development and citizens
and businesses engagement in the process of public services delivery were
discussed. Based on the outcomes of the meeting a report will be prepared,
which will be reviewed in the course of the discussion of the Post-2015
Development Agenda.
Yuri
Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, who is also a coordinator of a subgroup
on “Open government” within the framework of C7eGov work, took part in the
panel discussion, which took place during the meeting. Yuri Hohlov made a
presentation on global initiatives for open government, reported on work of
international organizations, non-governmental organizations and partnerships,
which work in this field.
The
panel discussion was also attended by Denis Sverdlov, Deputy Minister of Communications
and Mass Media of the RF, who reported on “ICT in Russia for Sustainable Economic
Growth and Social Development”. During the
presentation he reported on the implementation of the E-government Strategy in the
Russian Federation, noted improvement of the Russia’s position in UN DESA
ratings on e-government, informed participants of the meeting about development
of telecommunications sector, as well as about creation and development of
IT-parks in our country.
Among
participants of the discussion there were representatives of UN DESA/DPADM, UN Economic
Commission for Africa (UNECA), Microsoft Corporation, ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, E-government Authority in Bahrain, Institute of Management and Sustainable Development of Romania.
Following
the results of the meeting recommendations were elaborated, which are included
in the report on the event, and will be presented in the course of discussion
of the Post 2015 Development Agenda (WSIS +10). |
