IIS delegation takes part
in the work of the Forum of the World Summit on the Information Society
2013.
The Forum is being held on May 13-17, 2013 at the ITU headquarters in Geneva.
This year the Forum will be attended by more than 1500 representatives of the
public authorities, private sector, civil society and international
organizations.
The Forum WSIS-2013 offers a wide range of opportunities for cooperation,
including dialogues at the highest level, interactive sessions, topical and
country seminars and master-classes, knowledge exchange and exhibitions. During the Forum the World Day of Telecommunications and Information Society
will be held, which this year will be devoted to an interesting and relevant
topic - ICT use for improving the situation on roads.
On May 13 the opening ceremony was held, where the welcoming speech was
delivered by the ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun Touré, and the traditionally
held within the framework of the Forum prize distribution between winners of
project contest took place. Then there was held a plenary session at a high
level, where the main emphasis was laid on discussion of new tendencies and
innovations in ICT ecosystem. The plenary session was attended by more than 50
representatives of public authorities governing ICT sphere from different
countries and heads of large ICT companies.
Leaders and specialists of the Institute of the Information Society
traditionally participate in the work of the Forum acting as reporters at
sessions and seminars and as participants of discussions.
IIS delegation this year includes four people: Yury Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS
Board of Directors; Tatiana Ershova, IIS Director General and Editor-in-chief
of the "Information Society" journal; Olga Reznikova, IIS Deputy
Director General; and Louiza Rizmanova, Head of IIS Department of
International Cooperation and Public Relations.
Participation of members of IIS delegation in the work of the Forum will be
