The International Telecommunication Union published the most recent Index of ICT development, where it summarizes the rating of countries from the point of view of ICT development and use in the following trends: access to infrastructure and ICT; ICT use; level of ICT competencies. According to the results of the evaluation of 155 countries Russian Federation this year moved from the 40th to the 38th position, and is now right behind Portugal.

Other BRICS countries took the following places respectively: Brazil – 60, India – 119, China – 78, SAR – 91.
