New ICT development rating by the International Telecommunication Union |
The
International Telecommunication Union published the most recent Index of ICT development,
where it summarizes the rating of countries from the point of view of ICT
development and use in the following trends: access to infrastructure and ICT;
ICT use; level of ICT competencies. According to the results of the evaluation
of 155 countries Russian Federation this year moved from the 40th to
the 38th position, and is now right behind Portugal.
Other
BRICS countries took the following places respectively: Brazil – 60, India –
119, China – 78, SAR – 91.
It
is to be recalled that the Strategy of the Information Society development in the
Russian Federation defines a key measurable index – by 2015 the country must
enter the top twenty countries in international ratings with regard to
information society development, including the Index of ICT development.
The
top five, according to the ITU rating, remains as before unchanged and includes
the leading countries of Western Europe and South East Asia: Korea, Sweden, Denmark,
Iceland, Finland. |
