On
September 20, 2012 IIS representative Louisa Rizmanova took part in Creative
Commons
Regional Meeting for Europe held in the period of OKFestival
(September 17-22, 2012, Helsinki, Finland).
Meeting
gathered 23 representatives of CC Affiliates from 15 European and CIS region
countries (Belgium, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Kazakhstan, Netherlands,
Poland, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Finland, France, Sweden and UK). Regional
Project Manager Jonas Öber and representatives of Creative Commons Headquarters
(CC HQs) Jessica Coats and Timothy Vollmer also participated in the meeting.
In
the course of the meeting representatives of CC HQs made presentations on the
policy and strategic development issues of CC as an organization, as well as CC
Global Network development. The following priorities were defined: steward the
Global Commons, catalyze community growth, develop innovative products, build
the Affiliate network and secure the foundation. In the presentations it was
mentioned that in the near future CC Affiliates will be provided with the draft
Creative Commons Strategic Development Plan for 2013-2015 for consideration,
comments and suggestions on this document.
Representatives
of CC Affiliates presented summaries on their activities implemented in the end
of 2011 - 2012 and discussed proposals for further optimization of interaction
between the Affiliates and CC HQs. In particular, representatives of CC HQs
were asked to consider the possibility of funding some CC Affiliates’
activities and projects from CC budget, as well as providing support to CC
Affiliates in the implementation of joint regional projects and obtaining
grants. In addition, CC Affiliates representatives noted that it is necessary
to increase transparency of Creative Commons operation and make available
financial reporting information at www.creativecommons.org.
CC
Affiliates were suggested to consider the possibility of their participation in
School of Open
project, which was discussed in the course of the Workshop held on
the eve of Regional Meeting, as well as in preparation and holding celebrations
on the 10th anniversary of Creative Commons in December, 2012 (e.g. conducting
webinars, workshops, competitions for the best poster or video about Creative
Commons, publications on CC etc.). |
