On the 17-th of May the whole world celebrates the
World Day of Telecommunication and Information Society. The holiday is devoted
to popularization of ICT all over the world. This day is considered to be a
professional holiday for those who work in the sphere of information
technologies.
The goal of this international holiday is to provide
for increase of level of awareness about possibilities which ICT can bring in
societies and countries, including internet, and also about ways of overcoming
the digital inequality.
The theme of this year’s WTISD, “Women and Girls in
ICT”, aims to ensure that this significant, female half of the world’s
population will march forward as equals.
