On November 14-18, 2011
park-hotel "Olympiets" in Khimki, Moscow Region, hosted the 15th International Conference "Information Technologies, Computer Systems and
Publications for Libraries» and "LIBCOM-2011" exhibition.
The Conference was organized
by the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology, Ministry
of Education and Science of RF, Russian Foundation for Basic Research,
International Association of Users and Developers of E-Libraries and New
Information Technologies.
The Conference was attended
by heads and leading specialists of the biggest libraries from CIS countries,
teachers from different educational institutions, employees of publishing
houses, scholars, cultural workers and educators.
The following topics were
discussed at the Conference:
- Contemporary systems of library and information integration
- E-resources and e-libraries
- Contemporary education and electronic library
systems: problems and perspectives
- Equipment and technological solutions for
optimization and modernization of library work
- Internet, open access and electronic
information archives
- Challenges of development and methods of use of
classification systems.
The welcoming speech was delivered
by Yakov Shreiberg, Director General of the Russian National Public Library
for Science and Technology (RNPLST) and Vice-President of the Russian Library
Association. E. Dryganova, Yakov Shreiberg and Yuri Hohlov spoke at the
session.
Within the framework of the Conference
a discussion on the project of the Ministry of Education and Science of RF "Development
of information systems providing for access to e-catalogues of libraries in
the sphere of education and science integrated in a single internet resource" took place. The chief executive of the project is the RNPLST, and IIS is one
of the co-executives. Yakov Shreiberg, Yuri Hohlov and Boris Loginov,
Director General of the Information and Library Centre “Libnet”, spoke at the
Conference. In particular, Yuri Hohlov reported on progress of the project
implementation. The meeting was
attended by representatives of universities, higher educational institutions,
libraries in the sphere of education and science. |
