IIS Representatives took part in a meeting of the Ministry of communications of Russia on licenses Creative Commons

On June 27, 2011 the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation hosted a meeting on preparation of suggestions in regards to amending the legislation of the Russian Federation aiming at strengthening authors’ capacity to provide their creations on terms of free licensing to unlimited range of customers (comparable to licenses Creative Commons). The meeting conducted under supervision of Alexander Maslov, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of RF, was attended by representatives of the Institute of the Information Society – official partner of Creative Commons in Russia.

Participants of the meeting commented upon project of amendment in the article 1233 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation prepared by Council for Codification and Enhancement of Civil Legislation under the President of RF, and expressed their opinions on status of licenses Creative Commons in the Russian legislation. Those present were informed that IIS effects cooperation with Creative Commons, also the opening of the Russian web-site of Creative Commons developed by IIS was announced. 
 
Following the results of the meeting participants were suggested to send their representatives to the working group created by the Ministry of Communications of Russia for preparation of proposals regarding amendments to the Civil Code of RF, and for presentation of proposals aimed at perfection of mechanisms of providing rights of use of intellectual property objects to unlimited range of people.
