On June 30- July 1 2011 the VIII Tver Social and Economic Forum "Information Society", organized by the Association of Managers and Institute of the Contemporary Development under official support of the Administration of the President of RF and Administration of Tver Region took place. Institute of the Information Society acted as general expert partner.

The Forum devoted to discussion of the current status of information society and perspectives of its development in Russia was attended by about 2000 people. This year the results of regional federal projects implemented within the framework of the Strategy of Information Society Development in the Russian Federation were highlighted. 

The work of the Forum started with an opening of specialized exhibition, which became a traditional scene for demonstrating innovative projects in the sphere of e-government, education, health protection, safety and culture.  By the example of the Unified Cultural Information System of Moscow City (UCIS Moscow) the Institute of the Information Society together with partners demonstrated possibility of ICT use in the system of cultural and humanitarian enlightenment.  

The message of greetings to participants of the Forum was read out by Dmitry Medvedev, the President of RF.

At the plenary session of the Forum devoted to implementation of main trends of information society development in Russia reports were made by Andrei Shevelev, Acting Governor of Tver Region; Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors and Deputy Head of  Deputy Head of Expert Advisory Group of the Council under the President of Russia on Information Society Development; Olga Dergunova, Member of the Board of the Bank VTB OJSs; Ilya Ponomarev, Chairman of Sub-Committee on Technological Development of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications of the State Duma of RF; Timur Farukshin, Consulting Director of the IDC Moscow Representative Office; Igor Agamirzyan, Director General of the Russian Ventures Company Technological Innovations; Nikolay Pryanishnikov, President of Microsoft in Russia;  Farit Khusnoyarov, Deputy Director General of "Medialogia" company;  Konstantin Solodukhin, director General of "Synterra" CJSC.

Within the framework of the event work of parallel thematic sections was conducted.   

At the closing plenary session the results of work of all thematic sections and round table were presented.
