Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
IIS Director General took part in presentation of the Russian version of "Kit of Materials on Policy in the Sphere of ICT Accessibility for the Persons with Disabilities"

Tatiana Ershova, Director General of the Institute of the Information Society, took part in presentation of the Russian version of prepared by the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs "Kit of Materials on Policy in the Sphere of ICT Accessibility for the Persons with Disabilities", which took place on July 4, 2011 in the Moscow Representative Office of the World Bank.

The event took place within the framework of the expanded meeting of "Friends of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" Group, where "Kit of Materials" was presented by Axel Leblois, Executive Director of the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs. 
 

The document represents materials on realization of statements of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, where the core elements of ICT accessibility, peculiarities of international standards, information products and design development were pointed out. 

Recommendations of the "Kit of Materials" not only concern internet but also such spheres as promotion of assistive technologies and mobile telephony. It gives examples showing how strategy in regard to universal design destined for expanding accessibility must consider business approach, technical standards and users’ needs.

"Kit of Materials on Policy in the Sphere of ICT Accessibility for the Persons with Disabilities" will provide for making the role of ICT as a key instrument of social integration and stable development  more understandable for official quarters and community in Russia.
