On June 2, 2011 the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" hosted the expert seminar "Russia E-Readiness" organized by expert group for actual problems of social and economical strategy of Russia for the period until 2020 "Overcoming territorial and information disunity: development of transport system, communications and information" and Expert and Advisory Group of the Council on the Information Society Development in Russia under the President of the Russian Federation.

The event was attended by experts involved in information society development and creation of e-government in Russian and its regions.

The seminar was opened by Maksut Shadaev, Assistant to Head of Presidential Administration of RF, First Deputy Head of Expert Advisory Group of the Council under the President of Russia on Information Society Development.

In the course of the event moderated by Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of directors, Deputy Head of Expert Advisory Group of the Council under the President of Russia on Information Society Development, the following issues were reviewed:

• Russia’s place in international ratings of information society development
• Use of information-communication technologies in households and organizations in Russian and in the world
• Development of telecommunication infrastructure and Russian-speaking segment of the Internet
• Statistics of Russian sector of information technologies development
• Readiness of the Russian population to use of Information-communication technologies

The first issue was in details examined in the report "Russia’s place in international ratings of information society development and control values of the index of implementation of the Strategy of Information Society Development and State Program "Information Society (2011 – 2020)" prepared by Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of directors, and Sergey Shaposhnik, Head of IIS Directorate of Directorate of Monitoring Information Society Development.

Tatiana Ershova, Director General of the IIS, Head of Section of the Expert and Advisory Group of the Council on Information Society Development in Russia under the President of the Russian Federation, in her report “Readiness of Russian Population to ICT Use” spoke about real situation and proposed necessary measures for  increasing the ICT accessibility for population.

Reports by other participants showed additional data on particular trends in information society development in the Russian Federation.
