Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the Institute of the Information Society Board of Directors, Tatiana Ershova, Director General of the IIS, and Olga Vershinskaya, member of the Supervisory Board of the IIS, took active part in events of the WSIS Forum 2011 taking place these days in Geneva in the premises of the World Labour Organization.

They attended the Forum opening ceremony on May 16, in which e-leaders – profile ministers and deputy ministers, representatives of international organizations, leaders of private and non-commercial sectors – also participated.  

On May 16, Yuri Hohlov spoke at an interactive session on promotion of cloud computing technologies, where he expressed his point of view with regard to perspectives of its use by public authorities, business and citizens. Olga Vershinskaya spoke at the country seminar of Oman "Electronic Oman – strategy, which transformed country into society of competent ICT users in less than 5 years".  

On May 17, Tatiana Ershova participated in discussions of a workshop on cyber security co-organized with the World Federation of Scientists and International Telecommunication Union. The same day Tatiana Ershova and Olga Vershinskaya attended the workshop “Public dialogue on ICT impact issues: transformation and global development” organized by International Commercial Centre of Development (CECIDE) and Committee of Non-commercial Organizations on Development (CONGO).

Yuri Hohlov and Tatiana Ershova took part in the work of interactive session "Measuring the ICT sector for analysis of politics" organized by Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development.  

On May 18, Yuri Hohlov spoke at the interactive session on e-government, where he presented initiative of creation of a subgroup on open government within the framework of C7 Action Line. Tatiana Ershova and Olga Vershinskaya also participated in the work of this session.

On May 19, all IIS representatives worked at the meeting "Increasing transparency of public management and involvement citizens in it for promotion of effectiveness and accountability in the sphere of public services".  The meeting was organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs together with the International Telecommunication Union. Yuri Hohlov spoke at the plenary session of the meeting, where general approaches, best practices and main problems were discussed.

Yuri Hohlov also moderated the session two “Open (Linked) Data and Social Networks Services for Public Services Delivery" Tatiana Ershova reported at the session on "Sensible Social Investment: E-Government Services to Create Incentives for ICT Use by Citizens and Households".
