Institute of the Information society acted as co-organizer for the 5th Forum of the Arts and Science Intelligentsia of the CIS member states

On October 14-15, 2010 the Moscow State Institute for International Relations hosted the 5th Forum of the Arts and Science Intelligentsia of the CIS member states. Taking into consideration that the 2010 year is declared as the Year of Science of Innovations in CIS the main theme of the Forum has become “Innovative and Humanitarian Partnership – the basis of dynamic development of CIS”.

The Forum was organized with the support of the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation (CHC) and Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IFESCCO). Institute of the Information society (IIS) was among organizers of the Forum.

The Forum gathered more than 800 participants, including about 200 delegates from all CIS countries and about 200 representatives of creative youth. The Forum was attended by well-known scientists, cultural and educational workers, representatives of intergovernmental organizations, national authorities and international organizations. The Forum was opened by Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation.

During the Forum wide ranges of issues related to implementation of common projects, preparation to the upcoming 20th anniversary of CIS and filling the following humanitarian years – the Year of Historical and Cultural Heritage (2011) and the Year of Sport and Healthy Way of Life in CIS (2012) with the content – were discussed.

Within the framework of the Forum the presentation of international award “Commonwealth of Debuts” to young scientists from CIS, presentation of the CIS Network University and Press-Club of CIS, Baltic and Georgian countries journalists, as well as a number of exhibitions and other related events were held.
