On October 11, 2010 the Centre for Development of Non-Commercial Organizations in S.-Petersburg hosted the seminar "Free Software and Methods of its Legalization: Technical and Legal Aspects".
Among the main topics discussed during the event were activities of non-commercial organizations conducting verifications of software legality, as well as alternative legal ways of software receipt, use of open and online programs for NCO sustainment.
Representative of the Institute of the Information Society, "infoDonor" program manager Aleksandra Kapustina reported on the program and commented on the most recent Microsoft initiatives for NCO.
The goal of the "infoDonor" program coordinated by IIS is to provide technological support to Russian non-governmental and non-commercial organizations (NGO/NCO) in acquiring access to software and hardware donations of leading world producers.
IIS acts as Russian partner of the global program of non-commercial sector support, coordinated by non-commercial agency of technical support TechSoup Global (USA). Microsoft Corporation was the first donor of the program in Russia. |
