Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
WSIS Chairmen Adama Samassekou and Jānis Kārkliņš gave interviews to the Information Society Journal

Two outstanding figures in the field of information society policy development, who were present at the WSIS Forum 2010 in Geneva where they were awarded ITU medals for their services for the global community, shared their views on what should be done further on, first of all within the preparation of WSIS 2015.

Ambassador Karklins Gives interview to Tatiana Ershova, Editor-in-Chief of the Information Society Journal. The conversation with Ambassador Kārkliņš, who chaired the World Summit on the Information Society at its second phase, took place on 10 May 2010. He made an evaluation of the summit implementation process in last five years according the main directions outlined in Geneva (2003) and Tunis (2005). He also expressed his opinion on what an accent should be made within the next five years while preparing to WSIS 2015. One of such accents could be preservation of the digital heritage generated by mankind.

Adama Samassekou talks with Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Information Society Journal.Adama Samassekou, who presided over the first phase of WSIS, spoke in his new capacity of the chairman of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies. He sees the main sense of his activity on this post in forming a humanistic paradigm of development on the global level, as well as in creating a polycentric, rather than Europe-centric, development  model. This includes, i.a., dialog of all stakeholders interested in mobilizing the full potential of science and technologies for improving human life and relations, and building efficient models facilitating the transition to a new paradigm for the regions and individual countries.

Interviews with H.E. Adama Samassekou and H.E. Jānis Kārkliņš will be published in full format in the Russian language in Issue 3 of the Information Society Journal in late June 2010.
