Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
Within the framework of the conference "SocialCamp-2010" "infoDonor" program was presented

On March 10-12, 2010 an Exhibition Centre "Vyatka Expo" in Kirov hosted the international informal conference "SocialCamp-2010" devoted to non-commercial civil and social internet projects.  

Head of non-commercial organizations, workers of charitable organizations and IT sphere, web-developers from different regions of Russia and also representatives of the Government of Kirov Region took part in the event.  

The main goal of the conference – to unite efforts of volunteers, civil activists and IT, Internet specialists and thus bring civil and social activity in Runet to a new level.  

"SocialCamp-2010" was presented in an actual format of "informal conferences" barcamp, one of the main its features is that despite having an initiative group the majority of organizational works are carried out by participants themselves. 

On the first, educational day experts reported on different internet-technologies and services and besides on how they can be used for development, implementation and efficiency improvement of social projects. In particular representative of non-commercial organization learned how to quickly and free of charge to create a web-site, what is contextual advertising and why it can be useful for attracting attention to NCO activities, how to organize videoconferences not spending a lot of money, how to use social networks for attracting volunteers, fundraising and as instrument for drawing attention to especially urgent problems of violation of human rights. Besides within the frames of educational part of the conference issues devoted to social entrepreneurship were actively discussed.

The second day was in barcamp format where participants presented different practical cases and histories of success regarding how they use technologies in their work.

Alexandra Kapustina, Representative of the Institute of the Information Society, "infoDonor" program manager, reported on peculiarities of this program to participants of the conference.    

The goal of "infoDonor" program coordinated by IIS is to create technological support to Russian non-governmental and non-commercial organizations (NGO/NCO) in obtaining access to software and hardware contributions of leading world producers.  

IIS acts as Russian partner to the global program of support of non-commercial sector coordinated by non-commercial agency of technical support TechSoup Global (USA). The fist software donor in Russia became Microsoft Corporation.

The conference was live broadcasted via Twitter, thanks to which additional events were spontaneously organized, resources and people were found.
