On November 25, 2009 Volgograd hosted the extended session of the Commission on Complex Information System "E-Government of the Volgograd Region" Creation and its implementation in executive authorities of Volgograd Region.   

Special attention was paid to evaluation of readiness of the South Federal Region, and particularly Volgograd region, for providing public services in electronic mode. While preparing a presentation in regards to this issue researches by the Institute of the Information Society were used – the third edition of the "Index of Russian Regions E-Readiness" edited by Yuri Hohlov and Sergey Shaposhnik, as well as other materials prepared by the Institute.   

According to IIS estimates recently Volgograd Region has achieved the most considerable progress in development of web-representation of public authorities. Thus, in 2009 it was ranked the first among web-representations of the subjects of the South Federal Region.
