On 29-30 October, 2009 in Astana within the framework of implementation of e-government development program in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2006-2011 took place the IV International Conference "E-Government Initiatives - 2009".

The goal of the conference – to attract attention of the audience to e-government development in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to exchange expert opinions on condition and tendencies of IT-branches development, to establish effective collaboration between specialists in ICT sphere with companies-software developers and with potential clients and investors.   

The program of the event was opened by prime-minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov who made a complimentary address.

Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, reported at the Conference on "Perspectives of ICT Development and Use till 2030 (Russian Experience of Technological Foresight)", he reported on goals, objectives and methodology of research conducted by IIS in the interests of the Ministry of Communications of RF, and took part in the second session of Expert Board on E-Government Architecture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Yuri Hohlov evaluated the current condition of ICT-market in Kazakhstan and Russia in exclusive interview to IA "BNews.kz" where he shared his opinion on new threats and challenges which arise in the time of informatization, and noted the role of state in creation of information society. 

Besides the Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors appeared on leading national TV-channel "Khabar"  in the "Face to Face" show with his expert assessment regarding e-government development in Russian and Kazakhstan. 

Within the framework of the international conference "E-Government Initiatives - 2009" also took place the ninth session of the Commission on Information Safety under Coordination Board of CIS countries on Informatization under Regional Commonwealth in Communication Sphere "Issues of Information Safety Support in the Sphere of ICT Use" and round tables: "Development of Internet-Technologies in terms of ICT Sphere Perspectives in Kazakhstan", "Legal and Organizational Issues of Safe Interaction in the Sphere of Mass ICT Use", "Conceptual Approaches to E-Services".
