In accordance with the decision of Academic Council of the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) on September 1, 2009 within the Institute of Computer Technologies of MESI a Department of Information Society Development - Basic Department of the Institute of Information Society started to function. Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, was appointed a head of the Department.

Department of Information Society Development will conduct educational, methodical and research work on "Applied Informatics" (specialities "Applied Informatics (by fields)", "Mathematical Support and Administration of Information Systems") and "Innovatics" (specialities "Automated Systems of Information Processing and Management", "Complex Provision of Information Security of Automated Systems").  

Currently, the magistral staff, appropriate complex of methodical materials are being formed, educational programme is being elaborated.

The tuition will allow young specialists to get acquainted with the latest achievements in the sphere of information society development, including practical aspects of ICT application for social and economic development.  

The teaching will be conducted with wide use of e-learning technologies and will cover all spheres where ICT is used.

Establishment of IIS Basic Department will enable to implement joint researches and projects, to train highly qualified specialists in the field of ICT, those who will be the future builders of the information society.
