On July 2, 2009 within the framework of the VI Tver socio-economical forum "the Information society" the Tver regional picture gallery (in Ekaterininskiy Palace) hosted the seminar-workshop "Contemporary Museum in the Information Society" organized by "KAMIS" CJSC and Institute of the Information Society.

In the course of the seminar were presented complex approaches to informatization of all kinds of museum activities: recording, storage, cataloging, restoration, preparation of exhibitions and expositions, creation of information systems for visitors.   

Besides examples of implementation of automated systems in museums of different types and sizes, experience of creation of regional culture information systems, such as the Unified Culture Information System of Moscow, were examined.

Within the framework of the event Yuri Loshak, Director General of  "KAMIS" CJSC (S.-Petersburg), delivered a lecture on "Information System of Contemporary Museum: from Recording the Collections to Interactive Multimedia Complexes",  and Sergei Cherkalin, Director of Rybinsk State Historical and Architectural Open-Air Museum, delivered a lecture on "Museum Management with Use of Information Technologies: Experience, Problems, Perspectives".

During the second part of the seminar the practical use of information technologies in management environment was examined and use of computer systems for upgrading the work of museums was analyzed.
