On June 16, 2009 the Moscow office of the World Bank hosted a local session of the international videoseminar "Delivering More for Less? Demystifying Cloud Computing as Enabler of Government Efficiency and Transformation", organized by Institute of the Information Society jointly with the E-Development Thematic Group of the World Bank.
The international videoseminar was devoted to discussion of the emergence of cloud computing and the advantages that it offers, particularly in terms of cost savings for public authorities.
The Russian part of the seminar was opened by Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, who outlined in his speech the key points of discussion.
In the course of the local session the following reports were made:
- "IBM view of cloud computing" (Andzhey Arshavsky (IBM)
- "Review of Microsoft Strategy "Software+Services""(Dmitry Martynov (Microsoft).
Experts discussed possible strategy of transition to using cloud computing in Russia, as well as issues of security, reliability and confidentiality, which are the reason why government is skeptical about this technology.
