The first 2009 issue of the "Information Society" analytical journal was published. The issue is devoted to humanitarian aspects of information society.

The materials of the journal touch upon such key problems as the meaning of the intellectualization of personality for informational and psychological security maintenance, problems of humanitarian informatics, information culture and creativity in the context of human capital development in the information society.

The issue starts with a column "The Policy of Information Society Development in Russia", where one can find text of the recently approved law "On Providing Access to Information regarding the Work of Public and Local Authorities" with comments by such well-known experts as Boris Kristalny, Elena Volchinskaya, Alexander Privalov and Ivan Pavlov.

The column "Humanitarian Aspects of the Information Society" represents the following articles: "Autopoiesis of Information Objects" by Evgeni Ivakhnenko, "Information and Intellect as Values of Modern Epoch" by Irina Alekseeva, "Humanitarian Informatics" by Olga Vershinskaya and Olga Makhrova, "Information Culture and Creativity of a Higher School Graduate in the context of Human Capital Development in the Information Society (Part 2)" by Natalya Gendina and "The Third Age and Internet" by Boris Kondratov.

The second part of the article by Valentina Bondarenko "Innovations, Information Society and Long-Term Strategy of Development of Russia" is published in the "Science and Innovations in the Information Society" column.
