On March 12, 2009 Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, paid a visit to Minsk to discuss issues related to information society development in the Republic of Belarus. During the workshop with the Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Nikolay Strukov, the draft Strategy of Information Society development in Belarus till 2015 was discussed. A productive dialog on goals and targets of ICT development and use in the Republic of Belarus taking into consideration national-specifics and experience of development and implementation of such strategies in other countries took place. Employees of the Department of Informatization of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, and also Head of the Republican Public Association "Information Society" Sergey Enin took part in the session.

During the meeting between Yuri Hohlov and Vladimir Yankovskiy, Deputy Head of the Center for Information Technologies of the Presidential Property Management Department of Belarus, issues regarding the development of portal technologies and their use for providing e-government services were examined along with the draft Strategy.
