The first in 2008 twofold issue of the research and analytical journal “Information Society” was published. The main topic of the issue - public policy in the sphere of information society development in Russia, especially main approaches and mechanisms of realization of the Information Society Development Strategy in Russia.

The column “Information Society Development in Russia” presented: full text of the Information Society Development Strategy in the Russian Federation; opening speech of Vladimir Putin and speech of Leonid Reiman at the meeting of the Security Council of RF on information society development; and articles: “On Strategy of Information Society Development in Russia” by Vladislav Sherstyuk, “Roadmap of Information Society Development in Russia” by Mikhail Luchinkin, “Impetuses and Barriers on the Way to Realization of the Information Society Development Strategy in Russia” by Yuri Hohlov and “Tough Destiny of Russian Informatization” by Dmitry Chereshkin and Georgy Smoljan.

In the column “Leaders of the Information Society” was published the first part of the chapter “Anamnesis of Success” from the new book by Tatiana Ershova “We are the Information Society!” confined to the anniversary of the Institute of Information Society.

In the column “Science and Innovations in Information Society” an article by Evgeny Semenov “Human Capital in Russian Science” was disposed.

In the column “Initiatives on Information Society Development” you can learn about Microsoft’s initiatives in the context of speeding-up the development of the Russian software industry.
