On April 3, 2008 St.-Petersburg hosted a regular meeting of the Permanent Commission of Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Countries on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport. One of the items on the agenda was the draft model law "On Internet" developed by the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC) and the Institute of Information Society (IIS).

Yuri Hramov, IIS expert, represented the draft law to the commission for examination and reported on the process of the development of the project and its conceptual statements. Then he answered the questions of members of the commission.

A decision was made to forward the project for review to relevant committees of parliaments of CIS countries.
