Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
IIS representative took part in the talk show of The New Times magazine

On February 1, 2008 while participating in the talk show of the Internet version of The New Times magazine Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, spoke about the reasons why this model law is necessary: "Speaking about the Internet - in reality it is a transport structure of the modern Information Society. If automobile transport is the infrastructural element of the industrial society, then Internet is the infrastructural element of the Information Society. Thus a kind of order is definitely needed - how to move through this transport infrastructure".  This is the usual practice in the world - that was Yuri Hohlov’s main idea.

Determining the role of the government in the regulation of the Internet Yuri Hohlov emphasized that the model law limits and marks the role of the government in the regulation of the Internet "based on the international experience".

Participants of the talk show discussed a number of other issues which worry the public in our country, like condition of the civil society, freedom of speech, honor and dignity of citizens as applied to the Internet sphere.
