Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
IIS representative took part in the final events of the 4th edition of the Global Junior Challenge, which took place in Rome

From 3rd to 5th October 2007, Rome was the world capital of ICT-based innovation for education and e-inclusion. About 600 projects from around 80 countries worldwide were taken in the Challenge sharing the common vision that a better world is possible through ICTs.

The fourth GJC edition awarded the winners of the 4 categories "up to" 10, 15, 18 and 29 years old, as well as those of the three special categories: work, educational projects promoted by public administrations, and digital animations.

The Global Junior Challenge  is a global award promoted by the Digital World Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Municipality of Rome and six major ICT companies. The intention of the award, dedicated to young people and to schools, is to identify and reward best practices on the use of new technologies in education and training of youngsters.

The Global Junior Challenge is in line with the E-Learning Program threw from the European Commission during the summit of Lisbon. The goal of this program is the spread of the digital culture between the teachers and the young.

The projects were evaluated by the International Jury, which reflects the global nature of the Challenge. The Jury members have also been chosen to reflect the different skills and sectors involved in the use of new technologies in education. The Jury is chaired by Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy University of Edinburgh. Tatiana Ershova, IIS General Director, has been the Jury member since the GJC foundation.

Tatiana Ershova made a report "E-Inclusion in Russia: Getting Ready Slowly, Riding Fast" within the session "Innovation to Fight against Poverty: Good Practices from All Over the World", which took place in the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale Galileo Galilei  on 3 October 2007.

The Award Ceremony took place on 5 October in the beautiful Giulio Cesar Room in the Campidoglio City Hall.
