Taking into consideration the importance of development of infocommunication technologies and informatization, introduction of innovation solutions in socio-economic sphere and the most complete satisfaction of increasing people’s need for infocommunication services, Kazan hosted the Fifth International Scientific and Practical Conference "Information and Communication Technologies of the Global Information Society" on 5-6 September 2007.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Informatization and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan under support of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF, Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the International Telecommunication Academy.

Within the framework of the conference the following trends were discussed:

• Infocommunications in Education
• Infocommunication Technologies.

A. Evtyushkin, Head of Directorate of Innovation and Investment Projects of the Institute of the Information Society, acting as a co-chairman of the E-Government section, made a report on "Standard Program of Development and Use of Information and Telecommunication Technologies of Subject of the Russian Federation".
