Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
IIS representative participated in the Round table "Internet in Regions: Feudal Dependency, Following the Center or Independent Way of Development?.." within the first All-Russian online conference on Internet development in Russian regions

On 26 October 2006 information agency ITAR-TASS, Moscow, held the first All-Russian online conference dedicated to the Internet development in regions of the Russian Federation. It was carried out within the framework of final stage of All-Russian Internet-Marathon'2006 and Festival of Internet Projects "New Reality - 2006", and in the run-up to the 3rd Competition for National Award for Development of the Russian Segment of the Internet RUnet Award - 2006".

The conference program included the following:

  • Summing up the results of All-Russian Internet-Marathon'2006 held in all 7 federal districts of the RF
  • Presentation of analytical report "On the State of Internet Development in Russian Regions" drafted by Regiona Center for Internet Technologies (ROCIT) and GfK-Rus company 
  • Teleconference bridges with all Russian federal districts (participants of Internet-Marathon and New Reality Festival, mass media, governmental officials, business and civil society)
  • Round table "Internet in Regions: Feudal Dependency, Following the Center or Independent Way of Development?.." with participation of leading experts
  • Interactive sum-up of results of the All-Russian Festival of Internet Projects "New Reality" (announcing 70 diplomas in Russian regions and awarding 10 laureates).

The conference also represented the first results of submitting applications within the 3rd Competition for National Award for Development of the Russian Segment of the Internet RUnet Award - 2006". Members of the Organization Committee briefed the audience on the regional accent of the competition, on All-Russian online campaign "Public Vote" and on the award ceremony that will take place on 29 November 2006 in the All-Russia Exhibition Center.

The online conference comprised live broadcasts of Russian federal districts, and a few teleconference bridges: 

  • Moscow - Khabarovsk
  • Moscow - Novosibirsk
  • Moscow - Yekaterinburg
  • Moscow - Rostov-on-Don
  • Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod
  • Moscow - St. Petersburg.

Chairman of IIS Board Yury Hohlov participated in the Round table "Internet in Regions: Feudal Dependency, Following the Center or Independent Way of Development?..".
