On 18 July 2006 Ryazan held a working meeting dedicated to a wide range of issues on information and communication technologies application for socio-economic development of Ryazan region. The meeting was conducted by Alexei Sokolov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ryazan Region. The meeting was attended by directors and specialists from key departments of the government of Ryazan region, leading representatives of Ryazan State Radio-Technical University, federal state unitary enterprise “Specter” and Institute of the Information Society.

The participants were presented information on the current state of affairs and plans on informatization of Ryazan region, in particular, Concept of Development of Single Information Space in Ryazan Region for 2006-2008 (approved by the order of the government of Ryazan region of 03.04.2006 N117-p), draft regional target program “Informatization of Ryazan Region for years 2006-2008”, draft Law of Ryazan region “On Informatization Resources and Informatization of Ryazan Region”, draft regulation on the registry of information resources of Ryazan region, and others.

It was emphasized that Ryazan region conducts extensive works on improving region’s e-development; however, actions on implementing ICT are carried out only in governmental institutions, and even these works are not supported by allocation of funds on the projects of regions informatization planned at the federal level.

Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of IIS Board of Directors, and Tatiana Ershova, IIS General Director, presented to the participants approaches to the system of measures on introducing ICT for socio-economic development.

The meeting resulted in adoption of the decision to finalize the draft regional target program “Informatization of Ryazan Region for years 2006-2008” and correct priorities of region’s informatization, as well as to draft the substantiation for allocating funds from regional budget for primary events to be held in 2007.
