On 16 January 2006 the State Duma (Parliament) of the Russian Federation held parliamentary hearings on development of legislation in the sphere of information, information technologies and information protection. The hearings were attended by delegates of the State Duma, Moscow City Duma, representatives from ministries and departments, regional governmental and non-governmental organizations, mass media, research institutes, computer and IT enterprises.

The hearings were conducted by Valery Komissarov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

Mikhail Yakushev, Director of Legal Department of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation, Head of Directorate of Legal Programs of the Institute of the Information Society was among members of presidium of the parliamentary hearings and made a report at the meeting.

Stepan Orlov, delegate of the Moscow City Duma, member of Supervisory Board of the Institute of the Information Society, also made presentation at the meeting (see abstracts from presentation, pdf 130 Kb).

Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, also attended the hearings.
