On 16 December 2005 the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF held a regular meeting of the Russian Working Group on Internet Governance.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Yuri Grin, General Director of Department for International Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. Dr. Yuri Hohlov, Chairman of the IIS Board of Directors, was among the meeting participants.

The WG members were commissioned to draft and submit the following items to the Department for International Cooperation before 12 January 2006:

• proposals on participation in the issues to be resolved by the Internet Governance Forum (Athens, Greece, 2006);
• proposals on the list and membership of subgroups in the key problem areas;
• comments and proposals on translating the final documents of the second stage of the World Summit on the Information Society (Tunis, 16-18 November 2005) - "Tunis Commitment" and "Tunis Agenda for the Information Society" into Russian.

Department for Information Society Building Strategy of the Russian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications was authorized to organize the mass media coverage of Russia's preparation to the Athens forum.

The third meeting of the WG is scheduled for January 2006.
