On 30 November 2005 press-centre of Interfax information agency (Tverskaya-Yamskaya street), held a press-conference dedicated to the outcomes of the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Tunis on 16-18 November.

The event was initiated by IIS, who raised a proposal which was supported by the Department of International Cooperation and press-service of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation. The press-conference was held on the site of Interfax agency.

The Summit results were outlined by active participants of WSIS preparation process - Yuri Grin, Deputy Head of Delegation of the Russian Federation at the Summit, Director of Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of IT and Communications of the RF, and delegation experts - Tatiana Ershova, IIS General Director and Head of PRIOR Directorate, and Alexander Kushtuev, Deputy General Director of OJSC Rostelecom.

T. Ershova drew special attention of the journalists to the landmark significance of the Summit, which outlined political framework and mechanisms for developing the global “Information Society for all”, briefed the press-conference participants on the activity of the civil society at the Summit, stressed the importance of multi-stakeholder approach to implementing the Summit decisions, which would provide equal participation and fruitful cooperation of government, civil society, business and research and educational community in projects and initiatives aimed at the Information Society development.
