Strategy for Information Society Development in Russia
IIS representative to speak at WSIS round tables

As reported on 27 September 2005, IIS General Director and Head of PRIOR Directorate Tatiana Ershova joined the the Civil Society Bureau (CSB) at the third meeting of Preparatory Commmittee of the Tunis Phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

T. Ershova regularly participated in the work of WSIS PrepComs; in the course of the recent 1.5 years she has been a regular member of the interdepartmental delegation of the Russian Federation. She joined Bureau as a coordinator of the Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships Family.

T. Ershova is promoting one of the crucial ideas raised by the WSIS, i.e. development of multi-stakeholder partnerships as a tool for enhancing trust and cooperation among all interested parties in the process of creating an equitable Information Society for all. She was nominated on behalf of the Civil Society as a speaker at one of the WSIS round tables (second stage of WSIS is to be held on 16-19 November 2005 in Tunis), owing to the authority of the IIS, the Russian e-Development Partnership and the Global Knowledge Partnership, whose member IIS has been since 2000. On 14 October 2005 she received an official confirmation on her status as WSIS round tables speaker.
