English-Russian Glossary on Information Society
1. This global network is a loose confederation of academic and
research computer, government, military and commercial networks,
based on TCP/IP protocol.
2. A global information system whose parts are logically interconnected
by means of unique address space based on IP protocol. It provides
on a public and private basis high level communication services.
3. A collection of computer networks connected together spanning
the globe. Provides access to computers, electronic mail, bulletin
boards, databases, and discussion groups, all using the Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
