Improving Education through the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) and the Computer Science Teaching Center (CSTC)

    Edward A. Fox (Virginia Tech)

Digital libraries have tremendous potential to enhance education and scholarship, while promoting international cooperation and collaboration. We demonstrate this first by considering a relatively mature effort, working to have all students world-wide submit electronic theses and dissertations for access through digital library technology (http://www.ndltd.org).

Second, we review work since 1988 toward supporting learning in computer science, now framed in terms of the Computer Science Teaching Center (http://ei.cs.vt.edu/~cstc/).

Finally, we invite Russian collaboration in these efforts, outlining how individuals, universities, and other institutions can participate.
